Placehodlr decentralizes the backbone of Web 3.0: the Infrastructure layer.
We are tokenizing validators across blockchains. Validators run the infrastructure underpinning the Web 3.0 ecosystem. Running these validators is serious work, requiring a niche skill set and is a 24x7 operation. As a result, validators across ecosystems are becoming too centralized.
We are at serious centralization risk!
Put together, the chains below are USD 100 billion+ in market cap, securing billions of assets in TVL (Total Value Locked). Below is a quick overview of how little it takes to create a super-minority attack on most of the popular chains / networks (as of March 26th, 2024. Sources: hyperlinked).
If you look closely at the validator list, you will see the common names between chains and hence it boils down to 10-15 super-centralized validators. These are Web 2.0 companies, controlling the infrastructure.
